LUCKY STAR KICK-OFF MEETING

mercredi 8 juin 2016

CONTEXT :

Thanks to European Research Council (ERC) grant, the "Lucky Star" project will support for 5 years researches related to the exploration of the outer solar system (TNOs, Centaurs) through stellar occultations (PhD’s, postdocs, equipments, travels,...).

DATES : April 20 to 22 (Wednesday to Friday)
starting every morning at 10h30 until end of afternoon (time still tbd)

Lunch at Meudon Observatory restaurant + coffee breaks will be supported by the Observatory

Occultations in the GAIA era : Technology, Education and Science, an associated workshop is organised the 18 and 19th April at IMCCE (Paris observatory)

VENUE : Paris Observatory at *Meudon* (in the "Chateau" building)

Practical information

PARTICIPANT LIST

MAIN GOALS (very preliminary) :

this is not a conference, but a workshop, attendance will typically be 20 people. Discussions will be practical, in order to clearly identify the main goals of the project, what is already working fine, and what is not. In short : we have the resources, what is the way to do the best science with it ?

  • Predictions : bottlenecks ? GAIA era ? Ephemerides issues, etc...
  • Campaigns : some scientific priorities in the next few months
  • Organisation : status of various professional collaborations (Trappist, Danish, S. Pedro Atacama, LCOGT, USA, Thailand, China, etc...)
  • Network : connections with amateurs communities (Europe, IOTA/ES/USA, RASNZ, Japan, others ?)
  • others ...
